This is a list of music I’ve made. My music program of choice is currently Renoise, although I used to use SunVox and OpenMPT (and occasionally still do).

Project and audio files are hosted on AWS S3.

All the music on this page, unless stated otherwise, is released into the public domain via Creative Commons Zero. That means you’re allowed do pretty much anything you want with it without needing to get my permission or credit me. Credit is nice, but totally not required.

Keep in mind that I may have future plans for some of this music, outside of it just being published here.

Mirrexagon - Buzz Buzz

Finished/Released: 2018-04-30

This was somewhat inspired by rhythm games.

Mirrexagon - Upper Hand

Finished/Released: 2018-04-02

This started as Eurobeat, and slowly spiralled out of control. The name is from this sounding like it would play when the hero has gotten the upper hand on the villain and is executing their epic coordinated plan to defeat them.

Plugins used: Synth1, Cinematic Strings 2 via Kontakt 5

Mirrexagon - Sometimes I Reach Out and Touch the Stars

Finished/Released: 2018-03-26

Theme of Star Painter, in an unfamiliar world.

Dave Rodgers - Deja Vu (Mirrexagon Determined Cover)

Finished/Released: 2018-02-16

Imagine: the car is racing towards the bend. The racer’s behind, and they have only one chance to get back into the race. Against all odds, they have to make this drift.

Plugins/sample libraries used: Cinematic Strings 2 via Kontakt 5, Virtual Playing Orchestra’s drum kit via Plogue Sforzando (I put the samples in a rather specific location so it’ll be tricky to get this to open correctly)

Mirrexagon - Boss Time

Finished/Released: 2018-01-25

This one was inspired by the RPG Maker MV bundled music, and RPGs in general. If you have dblue’s Glitch plugin, you can enable it on the master track for a somewhat glitchy version of the song.

Mirrexagon - Epic

Finished/Released: 2018-01-02

Strings and tubular bells are almost all you need to make an epic song!

Mirrexagon - Impending

Finished/Released: 2017-12-14

This started as an attempt to copy a song from the Shokugeki No Soma anime (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v90pvDofq5s&t=1307s). It ended up turning out quite differently, but you can still hear the repetitive underlying synth line in both.

Finished/Released: 2017-11-02

Theme of Star Painter.

Mirrexagon - We Are Get Lucky

Finished/Released: 2017-10-19

Surprisingly I couldn’t find a mashup of We Are Number One and Daft Punk - Get Lucky, despite them fitting together really well without that many changes. So I made one!

Made with FL Studio

Mirrexagon - Stride On Through Life

Finished/Released: 2017-10-12

If Into The Sky was the opening theme of a game, this would be the credits music. I may possibly have plans of that nature…

Darude - Sandstorm (Mirrexagon Heavy Remix)

Finished/Released: 2017-04-08

I made a cool-sounding bass, and used it to make something based off Darude - Sandstorm, because why not.

Mirrexagon - Bring It On

Finished/Released: 2016-10-28

A fast-paced electronic piece. I want to use this for battle music!

It’s meant to be looped, but this version has an ending for listening purposes.

Mirrexagon - Into the Sky

Finished/Released: 2016-09-30

A happy chiptune. Spread your wings and fly into the sky!

Mirrexagon - Love You

Finished/Released: 2016-07-17

I felt like playing with a piano instrument for this one. It’s a bit short, maybe too short, but I still think it works. The hardest part was getting all the volumes balanced (I’m still not convinced that they are, but oh well).

Mirrexagon - Destiny Inspired

Finished/Released: 2016-06-22

You can never have too many remixes of one song!

Nobuo Uematsu - Terra (Mirrexagon Cover)

Finished/Released: 2016-06-22

My take on an iconic theme from Final Fantasy VI.

Mirrexagon - Swagger

Finished/Released: 2016-01-28

It took me a while to come up with a name for this, but I think “Swagger” describes it perfectly. I accidentally made the ending somewhat unsatisfying, so be prepared to want to listen to this over and over forever.

Mirrexagon - Little Battle Chip

A random chiptune appeared!

DRAX - Tristesse (Mirrexagon Wobble Cover)

Finished/Released: 2015-12-03

I was trying to make a wobble bass in SunVox. I also was trying to transcribe this song. I combined the two!

FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Dream March

Finished/Released: 2015-12-01

This sat in my WIP folder for ages because I thought it was too short, but nothing I added sounded good. I think it’s actually pretty great as is.

Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - City Night

Finished/Released: 2015-11-29

This one was sitting around in my WIP folder for ages, until I eventually decided to just call it finished.

Mirrexagon - Demo One

Finished/Released: 2015-11-06

Now this, this is a big one.

This song started off as a chiptune, written as though for a demoscene demo. I got up to where the chiptune ends, and ran out of ideas.

It lay around in my WIP folder for quite a while. Then one day I went back to it and thought, “Wouldn’t this be awesome as a kind of mashup of chiptune, electro and acoustic instruments?” This is the result!

If you do take a look at the source file in SunVox, behold the giant module graph in all its glory!

Mirrexagon - Sundance

Finished/Released: 2015-02-12

I played around with a few new things with this one, namely tempo and style changes. I’m pretty happy how it turned out.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Power On

Finished/Released: 2015-02-06

I’m not entirely sure what to call this. Fast-paced techno thing? I didn’t pay much attention when I was making this, or at least I barely remember doing it.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Trudge

Finished/Released: 2015-02-04

A chiptune, through and through. I returned to OpenMPT briefly to make this after having switched to SunVox a while back.

Mirrexagon - Basement

Finished/Released: before early 2015

One of my first SunVox songs. It’s more an ambient loop than a song.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Candy Stall

Finished/Released: before early 2015

I don’t usually write upbeat happy songs (for whatever reason), but this is one!

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Castle

Finished/Released: before early 2015

I think this one sounds a bit medieval, hence the name.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Chip Thing

Finished/Released: before early 2015

My first foray into using only simple waveforms in a song (ie. chiptune). I was trying to make a dubstep-like wobble bass, but it didn’t work out and so I made this instead.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Yasunori Mitsuda - Chrono Trigger Battle 1 (Mirrexagon Cover)

Finished/Released: before early 2015

Electronic cover of the Chrono Trigger battle music. I haven’t actually finished Chrono Trigger (I know, I know!), but its music is awesome!

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Destiny

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“You can’t escape your destiny.”

I love the plucky instrument in this song. I don’t know what it is but I pinched it from “Inside a Dream” by Awesome and have since heard it in quite a few songs.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Destiny Redux

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A remix of my own song “Destiny”! This version is more fast-paced, and still retains a lot of the original.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

David Larson - Double Rainboom (Mirrexagon Calm Cover)

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A calm cover of the Double Rainboom theme, without vocals. I also did a non-calm techno remix before this one, which has the vocals.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

David Larson, Mandopony - Double Rainboom (Mirrexagon Techno Remix)

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A remix of the theme of Double Rainboom, an MLP: FiM fan animation made by people all over the world (or something like that), that sadly was taken down by the lead producer. You can still find it online though. The module file for this is 18 megabytes because it contains the entire vocal track uncompressed.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Dream

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“When you dream, you can do anything.”

I liked this sample so much, I made a song that used only it! In retrospect, that didn’t work too well.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Fate of the World

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A fast paced mostly electronic song. I rank this pretty highly in all the songs I’ve made.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Final Sacrifice

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“The Final Sacrifice is your life.”

The first song I ever made (well, technically second, but we don’t talk about the first)! Chord progression comes from “destiny” by Radix.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Fluorescent

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A full-on electronic song with an awesome (if I do say so myself) bass line. I was pretty amazed at myself when I made this, and I still (as of March 2016) think it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever made.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

NightRadio - Follow the Sun (Mirrexagon Remix)

Finished/Released: before early 2015

Follow the Sun is one of the example songs bundled with SunVox, and it’s also written by the creator. It’s my favourite of the example songs. This remix uses a few instruments and patterns copied directly from the original, so I suppose this is kind of an edit as well?

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Ghostly Touch

Finished/Released: before early 2015

I was playing around with sines, filters and LFOs. Not my greatest work, but still alright.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Glow

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“Bask in the glow, and let it absorb you. Let everything wash away.”

This song apparently invokes images of a forest glade.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Lost

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“It is all too easy to become lost in the pure vastness of a mind.”

Guitars! One of which is my sample, the other comes from “guitarv2” by Buzzer.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - March

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A short, mostly acoustic piece (as acoustic as you can get with samples, anyway). I learned that you could make snare rolls with the retrigger command, so I made a song with that in it!

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Marimba Thing

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A song made entirely of marimbas, with some nice echo and reverb. Don’t mind the unoriginal name.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Never-ending Sorrow

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“When there is no hope, sorrow overcomes all.”

An electronic 16-bit-ish song.

This song was made for a small game I did with a few other people, for a 3D character modelling and animation course marketed as being video-game-oriented. They had to put something in there to justify that marketing!

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Piano Thing

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A calm song featuring a piano (unsurprisingly). I rather like this one. I didn’t have any other ideas for what to call it, so the name isn’t very original.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Playing

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“It’s just a little fun.”

This song has only three samples. Two of them, the guitar and the cello, were recorded by me.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Prepare

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“Are you ready to face the challenge?”

I asked my friend to pick out some samples from a large collection of tracker modules as a composition challenge. He picked mostly orchestral samples, with a synth in the mix. This is what I made.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Searching

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“Even though you may never find it, you still keep searching.”

A calm, slightly solemn piece, featuring a piano sample taken from “Beyond the Heart” by Awesome.

Around the time I made this, I was playing around with making an isometric RPG. I thought this would make a good theme for exploring an island in the middle of the sea near the start of the game, with wind-through-grass noises in the background.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Showtime

Finished/Released: before early 2015

Fast-paced endlessly-looping mostly-electronic song, with the plucky instrument I love so much. I made this in the early days of using SunVox, and sometime later I looked back on it sometimes and thought, “I have no idea how I’m going to make anything as awesome as this again.” I love it.

Made with SunVox
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Simplistic

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“It’s the simple things that count.”

With a drumbeat stolen from “massive cave system” by Reed, this is the only song I’ve made that I know had a bug in it. There was a stray bass note near the start. It’s been fixed though.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Koji Kondo - Song of Storms (Mirrexagon 16-bit Cover)

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“Here I lie, in this cave,
watching all the storms go by.
Maybe here I’m safe, maybe here I’m not.

Here I lie, in this cave,
watching all the rain pour down.
Singing the Song of Storms.”

“Even now, in the sky,
clouds are swirling all around.
I am not quite sure, whether it is dawn.

Even now, in this place,
I can see the rain pour down,
While singing the Song of Storms.”

This was made pretty early in my days of music making. I made up the lyrics for a story I wrote (it was terrible and it’s gone, don’t ask).

Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - The Elder Scrolls

Finished/Released: before early 2015

A remix of probably the most famous part of the theme from The Elder Scrolls. I was playing Skyrim around the time I made this.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - The End

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“Once you reach the end, all that is left is…nothing. It’s over. It’s finished. There is nothing left. And there is nothing you can do about it.”

I don’t remember what was going through my head when I wrote that quote…

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Twilight

Finished/Released: before early 2015

“Embrace the twilight, live in it. It won’t last.”

A little ambient piece that came from messing with a chord entry thing OpenMPT has.

Made with OpenMPT
Project file
FLAC
Ogg Vorbis

Mirrexagon - Weather Factory

Finished/Released: before early 2015

This one’s a chiptune. It’s one of my first SunVox songs.

Daniel Ingram - Winter Wrap Up (Mirrexagon Cover)

Finished/Released: before early 2015

Yes, I watched MLP: FiM, enjoyed it, and became obsessed with it for a while.

Much of this is actually copied from sheet music (http://www.everyponysings.com/2011/05/big-news-winter-wrap-up-sheet-music-and.html), because I’m not too great with transcribing by ear.

Mirrexagon - Your Destiny Awaits

Finished/Released: before early 2015

My second remix of “Destiny”, this time done in SunVox! I have a sort of inside joke with myself that I’ll just keep remixing Destiny over and over.

Made with SunVox
